At a distance


I have learnt to love you at a distance
All of you who have been there and been Good I salute you
You who have given me the strength to keep pushing and you who believe in me
But I have realized that I have to love you at a distance
Which means that I will be polite and greet you because I respect you and acknowledge your presence and tenacity
But I'll love you at a distance
As you have seeked and sought
You have taken and torn
You have disrupted and aborted
Everything away from me
You have used and abused
You have distracted my soul and left me with my bones
For I'll love you at a distance
I'll say hello despite the endless throws and the worthless foes
Sometimes you have to allow yourself to love others at a distance because leaving them too close will create an enemy unknown.
